1 Estimates and Quotes:
1.1 An initial estimate will be provided by Kate (Katharine) McKay, trading as Gembead Jewellery, based upon photographs/ video’s and discussion of the jewellery item awaiting repair.
1.2 Gembead Jewellery will inspect jewellery items upon arrival and before any quotation is sent to the customer. If it is determined that a repair cannot be successful then the jewellery will be returned to the customer after payment of return postage costs has been made by the customer.
1.3 A restring and or repair quotation will be provided, once the jewellery has been physically inspected.
1.4 Once the customer, has accepted the quotation, Gembead Jewellery agrees to carry out the repairs with a reasonably appropriate level of skill and care. Once the repair has been initiated the customer, cannot withdraw consent.
1.5 Where unforeseen difficulties are encountered during restringing or repair, due to the actual condition and/or age of the item, this may lead to the quotation being revised, or work may have to be discontinued if the repair cannot be completed. In this case, the item will be returned to the customer, without charge for any work initiated, and insofar as possible, in a similar condition as when the item was delivered to Gembead Jewellery who shall have no further liability to the customer.
2. Repair risk/ condition of Jewellery:
2.1 There is an element of risk to all repairs.
2.2 Whilst Gembead Jewellery always tries to identify faulty materials before work is carried out, sometimes it is not possible as the fault may be on the inside of the beaded material and not visible.
2.3 Gembead Jewellery accepts no liability if damage occurs during repairs due to faults in beaded materials, catches or associated components.
3 Payment:
3.1 When the repair service has been completed, photographs/ video’s will be sent to the customer with details of how to make payment, including return postage costs (Tracked and signed). Once payment has cleared, the jewellery item will be sent to the customer.
3.2 Refunds will only be given in exceptional circumstances or if it is not possible to complete a repair that was outlined in the quotation. Where a refund is made it will normally be paid in full (other than postage costs) but this is at the reasonable discretion of Gembead Jewellery.
4. Guarantee:
4.1 All repairs are covered by a 6 months guarantee, from customer payment date, unless Gembead Jewellery specifies in the quotation that the guarantee will not be issued. This would be due to existing poor condition of the jewellery or components.
4.2 The guarantee only covers the repair that Gembead Jewellery has carried out and not any damage caused by the customer or by general wear and tear.
4.3 Repaired Jewellery should not be work in water and any damage to restringing/ repairs caused by water are not covered by guarantee.
4.4 If the customer, wishes to make a claim under the guarantee, a request must be submitted via email as soon as possible after an issue has arisen. If the request is accepted the customer is responsible for return postage costs.
4.5 Gembead Jewellery will inspect the jewellery and confirm whether the repair will be covered. If the repair is covered then the work will be carried out without delay and returned by the postage method which was originally paid for.
